ABOUT CHRISTIAN ADOPTION SERVICES: Christian Adoption Services, a ministry of Baptist Children's Homes of NC, Inc., has been serving children and their families for over 40 years! Since 1979, we have assisted in the placement of over 2,000 children into loving, Christian families.

HOW WE DO IT: Christian Adoption Services has three programs central to our ministry: Domestic Adoption, International Adoption, & Foster-to-Adopt. Our domestic staff works with expectant parents who have decided to place their baby for adoption as well as those who are already parenting but have decided to place their child(ren) for adoption. They also work with the hopeful adoptive families to screen and prepare them. The ultimate goal of our Domestic Adoption Program is to connect birth families with adoptive families in North and South Carolina to find the right home for every child.

Job Title: Bilingual Domestic Adoption Coordinator

Summary

The Bilingual (Spanish/English) Domestic Adoption Coordinator (BDAC) shall be responsible for coordinating and planning the services and resources affecting children and their families under the supervision of the Director of Domestic Adoptions. The BDAC shall be responsible for intake services and providing casework for birth parents and extended family members as deemed appropriate. The BDAC will be based in the Charlotte/Concord area, and provide additional coverage across North Carolina and parts of South Carolina as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work OR
  • Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and one year directly related experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience.
  • American Translators Association Certification English/ Spanish; OR Demonstrate ACTFL Intermediate Mid Proficiency Level or above through proctored testing administered through agency's preferred testing service.
  • Directly related experience is defined as human services experience in the areas of case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy and treatment planning.

  • Professes to be Christian believer and submits an individual Statement of Faith and Acknowledgement and Pledge
  • Has no criminal record that would adversely affect his or her ability to work with children and adults
  • Demonstrates sufficient resilience to perform sensitive duties assisting children and families that may or may not have experienced trauma
  • Supports the philosophy and goals of Christian Adoption Services, a ministry of Baptist Children's Homes of NC, Inc. (BCH)
  • Conducts themselves professionally and in accordance with BCH standards
  • Complies with and conducts themselves in accordance with the North Carolina and South Carolina Licensing Rules for Child Placing and the NASW Code of Ethics
  • Possesses good organizational skills and can carry out duties in a timely manner
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
  • Capable of managing, planning, organizing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining agency programs, adhering to accreditation standards and licensing requirements
  • Meets the general qualifications outlined in the agency's personnel policies
  • Meets specific qualifications for a Domestic Adoption Coordinator as per North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and Christian Adoption Services regulations

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for intake services
  • Completes all required legal documents and paperwork in both English and Spanish
  • Coordinates services in the assigned region and provides bilingual support to other regions as needed, with possible travel
  • Assists staff in developing and implementing pregnancy counseling programs
  • Coordinates services with area organizations serving women experiencing unintended pregnancies
  • Recommends acceptance of specific children into the agency's foster care program
  • Increases awareness of Christian Adoption Services with area organizations assisting women with unintended pregnancies
  • Other duties as assigned
