Job summary

Shema Kolainu-Hear Our Voices in New York seeks a compassionate Spanish-speaking Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support children with autism in our school and community-based programs in Queens/Brooklyn. You will provide one-on-one assistance, help with daily living skills, and implement behavioral plans to promote independence.

The role emphasizes cultural sensitivity, strong communication, and collaboration with families and staff in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 1 year of experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull equipment and supplies as needed.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support to children with ASD and related developmental disabilities in our school and community-based programs
• Assist with daily living skills, such as personal care, feeding, and toileting
• Implement individualized behavioral support plans and strategies to promote independence and inclusion
• Communicate effectively with children, staff, and families to ensure a smooth transition between home and school settings
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills
• Maintain accurate records and communicate with families regarding daily activities and behaviors
