Job summary

Open Door Community Health Centers Fortuna is seeking a Dental Assistant to provide chair-side support to dentists and dental hygienists within a patient-centered care team.

This position covers a range of procedures and emphasizes patient advocacy, accurate charting, and adherence to California DA scope of practice. Wages start at the base and progress with experience; bilingual candidates gain a small wage premium after language assessment.

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited Dental Assistant training program OR two or more years of dental assistant experience.
• Ability to promote effective communication between the patient and the dental provider.
• Ability to work as a member of a team and independently as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for procedures by dentist and assists chair-side.
• Assists dentist with procedures including cleanings, fillings, root canals, crowns, extractions and dentures.
• Takes, develops and mounts X-rays and uses imaging equipment as qualified.
