Job summary

Open Door Community Health Centers in Fortuna, CA is seeking a Dental Assistant to provide chair-side support and patient-centered care. You will assist dentists and hygienists across procedures including cleanings, fillings, crowns, and extractions, while managing radiographs and charting with EMR systems.

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited Dental Assistant training program or two or more years of dental assistant experience.
• Current CPR Certification.
• Dental Radiography Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for procedures by dentist and assists chair-side.
• Assists dentist with procedures including cleanings, fillings, root canals, crowns, extractions, dentures and polishing.
• Takes, develops and mounts X-rays; uses Scanx, Sensors, and panorex as qualified; imports/exports images.
• Checks blood sugars for patients and files patient dental information into chart accurately.
• Provides patient education on proper dental care.
• Prepares operatories between visits by cleaning and stocking per dentist and OSHA guidelines.
• Operates autoclaves and uses cleaning solutions as required for each test.
• Follows universal precautions and uses PPE; maintains clean operatories and areas.
