The Project The Now Everybody Together for Amazing and Healthful Kids (NET-Works) at Clinics research study is part of the University of Minnesota's Prevention Research Center (PRC, 2024-2029), which addresses the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) priority area of improving nutrition, physical activity, and overall health and wellness among children from low-income households who are overweight or obese. This study focuses on implementing and evaluating the adapted evidence-based NET-Works intervention at two Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in English and Spanish. The intervention combines home visits delivered by Community Health Workers serving as Family Connectors, check-ins, and parenting classes led by University of Minnesota Extension Educators to promote sustained household routines around bedtime, playtime, meal and snack time. These routines aim to improve sleep, eating habits, physical activity, age-appropriate screen & TV time, school readiness and body weight among 2-5-year-old children. Data collection and assessment will occur at baseline, and at 6- and 12-month follow-up home visits, during which participants will complete a parent survey and have their child's height and weight measured for BMI calculation. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the revised NET-Works intervention on child BMI by comparing children in the immediate intervention group to those in the delayed intervention group.
