Job summary

Archetype Infrastructure Solutions seeks an experienced fiber splicing technician to support hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data center projects across the United States. You will perform fusion splicing, install and route fiber, and document test results for critical AI and cloud workloads.

This role requires travel nationwide, bilingual English/Spanish communication, and the ability to work in live data center environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on fiber optic splicing experience specifically in data center environments.
• Proven proficiency with fusion splicing (ribbon and single-fiber), fiber preparation, and high-density installations.
• Strong experience with OTDR, power meter, and related fiber certification/troubleshooting equipment.
• Ability to travel extensively for projects throughout the United States (this is a travel-based role).
• Fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written) — ability to give clear work instructions and coordinate with bilingual teams is required.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and varying site conditions.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform single-fiber, ribbon, and mass fusion splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber in live and new-build data center environments
• Install, terminate, route, and dress fiber within splice enclosures, Fiber Distribution Frames (FDFs), LIUs, MPO/MTP panels, and high-density racks
• Conduct comprehensive testing and troubleshooting using OTDR, OLTS, optical power meters, VFLs, and fiber inspection scopes
• Read and interpret splice matrices, construction drawings, rack elevations, and fiber routing diagrams
• Produce accurate documentation: splice records, test results, as-builts, redlines, and labeling packages that meet strict customer close-out standards
• Support high-count fiber builds (including 864f+ and larger trunks), mid-span entries, restorations, and quality walk-downs
• Maintain tools, equipment, and consumables while following rigorous safety protocols and site-specific requirements
• Communicate effectively with crews, supervisors, and clients in both English and Spanish
