Job summary

The Ocean Vicinage of the New Jersey Judiciary seeks a Court Interpreter who is bilingual in English and Spanish and capable of interpreting in sight, consecutive, and simultaneous modes in court proceedings, hearings, and related events. The role may be performed on site, with remote options, in person or virtually depending on needs.

The ideal candidate will translate signage and documents, assist with contracting interpreters, manage vouchers and reports, and support data entry and staff

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish with ability to interpret in three modes (sight, consecutive, simultaneous).
• Familiar with courtroom protocols and high ethical standards.

Responsibilities

• Interpret court events in simultaneous, consecutive and sight modes, on site, telephonically or virtually.
• Translate signage and vicinage documents as requested.
• Assist with contracting freelance interpreters and process vouchers & reports.
• Enter data into the automated record keeping system and provide staff training as needed.
