Job summary

CommonSpirit Health seeks a Community Health Worker to bridge clients with essential health and social resources in the Bakersfield area. You will identify needs, connect individuals to health, education, and employment services, and guide them past barriers to care.

You will build relationships, educate communities on health topics, and help enroll participants in classes while handling required documentation and routine clerical tasks with empathy and resilience.

Qualifications

  • Spanish/English bilingual communication with diverse populations.
  • Current driver license and car insurance.
  • BLS CPR certification.
  • Motivated, well-organized and proactive.
  • Culturally sensitive with strong interpersonal and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and stay task-oriented.
  • Experience in public health promotion and perinatal services is helpful.
  • Proficiency with common office equipment (phones, copiers, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Build community relationships and increase program visibility.
  • Educate on health topics and enroll participants in classes/workshops.
  • Complete and submit required documents/reports to Supervisor.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as data entry, calls to participants, and preparing workshop packets.
