Job summary

County of Santa Barbara seeks a full-time Community Outreach Associate in the Animal Services division. The role engages residents, provides public education, and expands access to services across the county, with travel to shelters including Santa Maria.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience in customer service or community-facing work.
• Volunteer leadership, coaching teams, or coordinating community groups.
• Bilingual – Spanish language skills preferred; fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct community education and outreach events related to animal health and responsible pet care.
• Support owner-surrender prevention, pet food assistance, vaccination and microchip clinics, and licensing programs.
• Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers; coordinate with partners and public agencies.
• Collect and report program data to evaluate outreach outcomes and community needs.
• Develop partnerships with community organizations to expand access to animal services.
