Job summary

Maryland Just Power Alliance seeks a Bilingual Community Organizer to build powerful local leadership across Montgomery, Howard and Anne Arundel Counties, advancing housing, health, education, and climate equity.

You will recruit and train volunteers in religious congregations, schools, and tenant communities, and conduct relational meetings to identify leaders and campaign opportunities, working with MJPA’s network of organizations.

Qualifications

• Relational organizer with strong community engagement skills.
• Fluency in Spanish required for meetings, training and outreach.
• Experience building diverse volunteer teams and leadership pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Hold 15-20 one-to-one relational meetings each week with community members and potential leaders.
• Identify new leaders and community issues through listening sessions.
• Engage leaders in campaign strategy and power mapping.
• Lead meetings with community leaders, elected officials, and businesses.
• Support actions at county and state levels to advance community goals.
• Participate in professional development and training.
