Job summary

The Wahluke School District is hiring a GEAR UP College Prep Advisor in Mattawa, WA. This role supports students with college planning, FAFSA/WASFA assistance, and personalized academic advising as part of the GEAR UP program.

You will collaborate with the Site Coordinator and Program Director, engage families, and help students navigate postsecondary opportunities. The schedule follows the 180 school days calendar with training and events as needed.

Qualifications

• AA degree in related field preferred; combination of coursework and job experience may be considered.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with adolescents and at-risk populations.
• Experience in educational settings or counseling preferred.
• Knowledge of high school programs, graduation requirements, and postsecondary entrance qualifications.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Proficient computer skills: word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet research.

Responsibilities

• Support Site Coordinator to fulfill Grant Requirements and Work Plan Items.
• Meet with students one-on-one to discuss career goals and expectations.
• Assist with FAFSA/WASFA applications; filling out scholarships.
• Research and become familiar with postsecondary institutions.
• Assist students with college applications.
• Coordinate and recruit for activities such as family nights, FAFSA WASFA nights, conferences.
• Maintain monthly documentation for reporting and data entry.
