Job summary

Salud Para La Gente in Watsonville, CA is hiring a Medical Assistant to support care teams, prepare exam rooms, perform in-house tests, and document patient encounters. The role requires bilingual English/Spanish, a MA certificate, CPR, CA driver’s license, and vaccine status. This is a full-time position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited program.
• National or CA state MA certification required.
• Valid CA driver's license and current vehicle insurance.
• Current CPR certification.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records.

Responsibilities

• Serve as care team member and front-line patient liaison.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with privacy laws.
• Review upcoming visits, labs, referrals and ensure documentation is up to date.
• Prepare exam rooms, stock supplies, and sanitize equipment between patients.
• Record vitals and health history; complete pre-visit forms in the chart.
• Perform in-house tests and imaging under supervision; document results.
• Prepare and assist in in-house treatments and procedures as ordered.
• Process lab orders and coordinate specimens for pickup.
• Administer medications and immunizations as directed; document in chart.
• Coordinate radiology orders and assist with scheduling.
• Discharge patients with instructions and follow-up plans.
• Handle paperwork including disability forms, authorizations, and forms.
• Conduct patient recall and schedule follow-up visits; document communications.
• Make medication refills calls to pharmacies per provider orders.
• Notify patients of normal test results with provider approval.
• Encourage Mi Salud portal enrollment; connect to community resources.
• Provide timely, accurate, courteous service and escalate as needed.
