Job summary

Lincoln Elementary in Ogden, Utah, seeks a part-time Classroom Staff Assistant to support teachers with tutoring and small-group instruction. This role involves assisting in bilingual settings, administering basic tests, and coordinating classroom materials.

The position requires 48 college credit hours or ParaPro, plus six months of related experience. Hours are 4.6 per day, 23 per week, with a starting date of immediately.

Qualifications

• 48 college credit hours or a passing score on the ParaPro test.
• Six months of related experience.
• Knowledge and skill in understanding and using alphabetical and numerical systems, in organizing and maintaining catalog systems, and in handling finances.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers one-on-one with students in reading, math, science, etc.
• Assist with reading chains in elementary schools.
• Duplicate and prepare materials for teachers by copying worksheets and laminating charts.
• Instruct students on computer programs to be tested for Accelerated Reader Programs.
• Monitor and reinforce behavioral interventions and programs as outlined.
• Assist in teaching social/academic skills.
• Monitor/record data required for behavior, academic, and IEP plans.
• Supervise children on the playground.
• Mediate arguments and notify supervisor of serious incidents.
• Administer minor first aid and enforce school rules.
• Escort students to and from the playground and manage equipment storage.
• Assist bilingual/monolingual students in understanding classroom material.
• Tutor English-deficient students in reading, writing, and speaking.
