Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a qualified English language/ bilingual instructor to provide instruction under the supervision of the school principal. This role focuses on developing students' English language skills and maintaining discipline in accordance with CPS policies and Illinois standards.

The ideal candidate holds an ISBE license with a bilingual endorsement, has completed student teaching, and demonstrates strong classroom management and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must hold an Illinois ISBE educator license with bilingual endorsement.
• Successful completion of student teaching and coursework.
• Knowledge of Illinois Learning Standards and district policies.
• Ability to modify instruction to meet limited English proficient students’ needs.
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan lessons and prepare for each student in accordance with program objectives and CPS policies.
• Administer language assessments to evaluate students’ language ability.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of achievements.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about academic progress and conduct.
• Participate in in-service meetings and professional staff meetings.
