Job summary

DigiStream Investigations seeks a full-time Claims Investigator in the Bay Area. The role conducts insurance investigations with subjects and witnesses to workers' compensation claims, scheduling, preparing, and conducting investigations. You will update clients and report results to the General Manager.

Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of claims experience (journalism preferred). On-site Oakland office with full-time hours and travel across 11 counties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; Criminal Justice, English, Psychology, History, Political Science or other writing-intensive major preferred.
• 2 years of claims experience preferred; journalism experience preferred.
• Must provide at least 1 writing sample.
• Ability to read, analyze, and distill information from documents for investigations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person recorded interviews with injured workers, supervisors, witnesses, and management.
• Perform accident scene investigations including photos, measurements, and equipment analysis.
• Obtain and secure evidence such as audio recordings, medical releases, photos, police reports, court records.
• Complete well-written, in-depth reports on case findings within 48 hours of statement.
• Track and maintain hourly billing and meet deadlines while multitasking.

Starting Compensation:$32.00 hourly

Weekly Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week with opportunities for over time

Office Location:Oakland, CA: full-time in office position, hybrid schedule after first 90 days

Job Summary:

DigiStream Investigations, a fast-growing private investigations firm seeks a full-time Claims Investigator in the Bay area. The Claims Investigator will conduct insurance investigations with subjects and witnesses to workers comp injury claims. The Claims Investigator will be responsible for scheduling, preparing, and conducting claims investigations and communicating with the General Manager regarding results obtained and updating clients as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-person recorded interviews with injured workers, supervisors, witnesses, and management regarding industrial accidents
• Conduct accident scene investigations including scene photographs, measurements, and analysis of equipment to determine cause of injury or third-party liability
• Obtain and secure evidence, such as audio recordings, medical releases, photographs, police reports, court records, and other evidence
• Complete well-written and in-depth reports on case findings within 48 hours of statement
• Track and maintain hourly billing
• Work under deadlines and multitask

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree required (Criminal Justice, English, Psychology, History, Political Science or other writing intensive major preferred)
• 2 years of experience in claims preferred, experience in journalism preferred
• Must be able to provide at least 1 writing sample (Cover letter does not count)
• Ability to read, analyze, and distill information from documents and forms and apply it to an investigation
• Ability to interact with subjects of an investigation in a professional manner while developing rapport and extracting necessary information
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
• Ability to juggle multiple cases at once; maintaining work quality and turnaround time while communicating effectively with SIU supervisor
• Ability to be on-site in our Oakland office location full-time Monday to Friday
• Must pass a mandatory Background History check
