Qualifications

What You'll Be Doing

The Bilingual Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) assists physicians, nurses, and other medical staff with patient care, following policies, procedures, and professional guidelines. The role includes clinical and clerical support such as assisting with medical procedures, equipment sterilization, filing, retrieving information, and conducting screening examinations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Take patient medical histories
2. Explain treatments or procedures to patients
3. Clean and sterilize designated equipment after use
4. Prepare patients and assist physicians with procedures
5. Assist patients with obtaining food, toileting, post-op movement, and comfort
6. Instruct patients about medication and special diets
7. Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician or licensed provider
8. Ensure exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned after each patient and prepared for the next
9. Assist with light housekeeping duties, including spills
10. Stock exam and treatment rooms with supplies, linens, and forms
11. Maintain relevant lab work and test results in patient charts
12. Escort patients and specimens throughout the facility
13. Obtain vital signs, weights, EKGs, and perform tests within scope
14. Assist with blood collection and phlebotomy as needed
15. Perform other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certification as a Medical Assistant in New Jersey
• At least 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in a hospital setting
• BLS certification (preferred)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
