Job summary

The City of San Antonio Head Start program is seeking an entry-level, grant-funded position to assist with the simpler aspects of cases. The role is primarily office-based and involves outreach, intake processing, and coordinating referrals with families and community partners at the San Antonio Head Start location.

Work hours are typically 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a focus on program information, documentation, and collaboration with City staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required (or equivalent).
• Three (3) years of experience with a social service agency or promoting a health program.
• Valid Class C Texas Driver's License, or equivalent from another state with ability to obtain Texas license within 30 days of residency.

Responsibilities

• Makes and takes referrals from different agencies and the general public.
• Makes presentations to community groups explaining assistance program and may participate in health fairs, meetings and community board activities.
• Coordinates and conducts special events including outreach presentations to community groups.
• Completes applications for families in the service area and follows up on incomplete applications and missing documents.
• Answers phones and provides information about programs and performs brief intakes; assists with School District registration and attendance monitoring.
• Performs related duties as required.
