Unicare Community Health Center-Moreno Valley is seeking a Medical Assistant I to provide administrative and clinical support in behavioral health settings. The role includes patient intake, vital signs, documentation, and assisting providers in delivering patient care.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of a medical assistant training program, and current Basic Life Support. Bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred, with 1–3 years of behavioral health experience

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of medical assistant training program.
• Current Basic Life Support.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting in mental or behavioral health.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish highly preferred.
• 1–3 years Behavioral Health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide back-up support for the medical assistant team and perform all MA functions.
• Assist with intake process: collect histories, conduct assessments, document vitals.
• Conduct financial screening and set up for patient visits.
• Provide interpretation services for behavioral health discussions, including non-English speakers.
• Translate health-related documents, especially intake forms, consents, and treatment plans.
• Administer PHQ-9, GAD-7 mental health screening under supervision.
• Document and track behavioral health referrals and follow up with providers.
• Assist patients with mental health intake questionnaires and follow-up appointments.
• Review charts, labs, and encounter forms for completeness and follow-up as needed.
• Support dispensary logs, inventory, and supply stock maintenance.
• Coordinate cross-location scheduling and collaboration with the team.
