Job summary

College of Lake County in Grayslake seeks an Acting Academic Success Advisor to provide holistic, culturally responsive advising from enrollment through credential attainment and career/transfer transition. The role emphasizes personalized planning, ongoing coaching, and collaboration with faculty across a designated FOI.

Responsibilities span student support, academic and career advising, transfer planning, financial advising, and case management, with opportunities to lead process

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, or related field required; master’s preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in higher education or related field.
• Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills; ability to work with diverse students.
• Ability to work evenings or weekends as needed.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English desired.

Responsibilities

• Student & Customer Service: Develop a personalized, holistic plan for each advisee and review progress.
• Academic Advising: Provide accurate and timely advising for programs within the FOI.
• Career Advising: Guide students through career exploration tools and assessments.
• Transfer Advising: Support transfer school selection and related planning.
• Financial Advising: Help students secure funding and plan financially.
• Personal Advising: Connect students to college resources and success programs.
• Case Management: Manage caseloads and maintain advising notes.
• Project & Process Management: Support changes to the advisement model and collaborate with departments.
• Other: Perform related duties as assigned.
