Job summary

Variety Care seeks a Certified Application Counselor (CAC) to help clients apply for SoonerCare and ACA Marketplace enrollment. You will educate patients on health insurance options and guide them through enrollment, working with the Billing Department and WIC classes where needed.

You will conduct outreach to raise Medicaid awareness, assist with exemptions/appeals, and support the Patient Centered Medical Home approach with compassionate, culturally competent service to diverse patients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Fluency in both English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.
• Must complete CAC training and receive certification.
• Register with the Oklahoma Insurance Department as Navigator.
• Experience using a computer.
• Basic communication skills.
• Experience handling confidential information.
• Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Post-secondary education preferred.
• Experience in community outreach and with SoonerCare Agency View preferred.
• Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds and drive to Variety Care sites and outreach locations.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates and maintains expertise in the eligibility and enrollment rules of the Health Insurance Marketplace and SoonerCare.
• Provides information and enrollment assistance that is fair, accurate, and impartial.
• Determines coverage eligibility for Medicaid or ACA Exchange.
• Enrolls eligible clients in SoonerCare or Medicaid programs following OHCA rules.
• Assists clients with Marketplace accounts and navigating subsidies and plan selection.
• Educates clients about premium obligations, co-pays, and subsidies.
• Helps clients make informed selections from Marketplace options.
• Follows up to assist with enrollment completion.
• Identifies enrollment barriers and coordinates with Variety Care staff to resolve them.
• Performs internal documentation and reporting as assigned.
