Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Temporary Teacher (8th Social Studies, Spanish bilingual preferred) for a maternity leave position beginning Sept. – Nov. under the supervision of the principal.

The teacher will plan and deliver engaging lessons, manage classroom behavior, and maintain student records. The role requires certification via the Illinois State Board of Education (PEL or ELS) and a strong understanding of middle school social studies content.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or higher teaching credential aligned to Illinois certification requirements.
• Eligibility or possession of Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS).
• Experience with middle school social studies is preferred; bilingual Spanish skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons for 8th grade social studies in line with CPS curriculum.
• Maintain attendance, discipline, and accurate student progress records.
• Communicate with families and collaborate with school staff to support student success.
• Participate in professional meetings and school activities as required.
