The role emphasizes classroom planning, language assessments, and collaborative family engagement to improve outcomes for bilingual students within an urban setting.

Qualifications

• Illinois teaching certificate with bilingual endorsement.
• Experience in bilingual instruction desirable.
• Knowledge of Illinois Learning Standards and state/federal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan lessons and prepare instruction aligned with CPS policies and Illinois Learning Standards.
• Administer tests and language assessments to evaluate language ability.
• Assess student progress and adjust instruction to support English learners.
• Establish positive learning expectations and maintain accurate attendance and evaluation records.
• Implement instructional methods and adapt to diverse learner needs; develop new teaching techniques.
• Promote attendance and anti-vandalism initiatives in school settings.
• Communicate with parents/guardians and participate in in-service and staff meetings.
• May coordinate class field trips and participate in after-school activities.
