Job summary

Racine Unified School District is seeking a classroom support aide to assist teachers in delivering instruction, plan and prepare teaching aids under teacher direction, and present subject matter using a variety of methods to reach all learners. You will help track student progress and reinforce learning concepts.

The role includes supervising students during lunch, recess, and bus loading; assisting with field trips; and supporting safe, orderly classrooms.

Responsibilities

• Discusses assigned instructional materials with teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Plans, prepares, and develops teaching aids such as bulletin boards, art media, etc. under teacher's direction.
• Presents subject matter to students utilizing a variety of methods and techniques.
• Assists students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
• Distributes teaching materials to students.
• Assists in keeping order in the classroom.
• Supervises students during lunch, recess, and bus loading.
• Assists in activities that promote understanding between school and community.
• May supervise a classroom when a teacher is called away due to an emergency.
• Devotes attention to children needing discipline and special attention.
• Sends notes home with teacher's approval.
• Escorts students to and from class.
• Assists the teachers in preparing and organizing instructional materials.
• Tracks each student's progress to provide information to teachers for instruction/re‑instruction.
• Assists with supervision of field trips.
• Assists with supervision during emergency situations.
• Participates in in‑service sessions in the building and at program levels.
• May assist the office staff with processing calls, mail, etc.
