Responsibilities

• Foster social and emotional intelligence through classroom management and discussion/teaching.
• Teach content assigned (general or specialists).
• Prepare robust daily instruction and weekly lesson plans per Morris School District programs.
• Collaborate with a PLC to reflect and improve teaching and learning.
• Integrate technology and interactive elements into instruction.
• Analyze student progress using district data sources and provide targeted instruction.
• Build relationships with parents to communicate progress and learning styles.
• Prepare personalized assignments and projects according to district policy and curricula.
• Grade, provide feedback, and set learning goals aligned with standards.
• Monitor, evaluate and report student progress including academic growth and behavior.
• Maintain and update student files as needed.

• Prepare and assign personalized academic assignments, homework and projects according to district policy, approved curriculum guidance and student needs
• Grade assignments in accordance with district guidelines provide constructive feedback and work with students to set personalized learning goals aligned with grade level/content standards.
• Monitor, evaluate and report student progress, including academic growth, social skills, and behavior modification
• Maintain and update files, including student paperwork, as needed
• Set personal and professional goals aligned with district and school vision and the approved evaluation tool for the Morris School District.
• Attend and apply strategies from professional development sessions and meetings organized by principal/supervisor and district
• Follow work day and attendance guidelines set forth by negotiated contract and Morris School District HR protocols
• Meet requests for additional responsibilities by Principal/Supervisor
• Contract Terms: 184 days/year

Position requires appropriate New Jersey Certification.

Effective September 1, 2011, The New Jersey First Act implemented May 17, 2011, requires all employees of a school district to reside in the state of New Jersey. Employees of the Morris School District hired after the effective date who do not reside in the State of New Jersey at the time of hire have one year from the effective date of employment to relocate their primary residence to New Jersey. Employees of the school district hired prior to the September 1, 2011 effective date of this Act are grandfathered and are not required to relocate to New Jersey.
