Job summary

Scheels is seeking a part-time technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of store equipment, including bikes, skis, and sports gear. You will also handle parts ordering, safety documentation, and equipment delivery to customers.

The role requires a valid driver’s license and DOT certification is encouraged. The schedule runs 15–20 hours weekly with 5:00 PM–9:00 PM evening shifts on weekdays and limited weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• Clean, valid driver’s license required.
• Willing to obtain DOT certification.
• Mechanical knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair customer and store equipment (bikes, exercise machines, snowboards, skis, hockey skates and sticks, golf clubs, racquet sports, archery arrows, paintball markers, etc.).
• Order and follow up with vendors for repair parts.
• Safely fill CO2 and compressed air tanks for paintball markers.
• Maintain accurate records for store and customer equipment.
• Assist with delivering/loading equipment to store and customer residences.
• Read and interpret safety rules and maintenance documents.
• Work schedule: 9am–9pm Mon–Sat; 11am–6pm Sun; varying hours including evenings, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately diagnose and provide maintenance and assembly of customer and store equipment. Equipment may involve bicycles, exercise machines, snowboards, skis, hockey skates and sticks, baseball gloves and bats, golf clubs, racquet sports, archery arrows, paintball markers, and other merchandise in a Scheels Store
• Order and follow up with vendors for repair parts
• Safely fill CO2 and compressed air tanks for paintball markers
• Maintain accurate and detailed records for store and customer equipment
• Assist with delivering and loading customer equipment and merchandise at the store and to customer residences
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
• Must be flexible to work assigned schedules between 9 am and 9 pm, Monday through Saturday, and 11 am and 6 pm on Sunday. Schedule may include varied hours, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Education & Experience:

The ideal candidate must possess a clean, valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain DOT certification and meet Scheels driving standards. Mechanical knowledge is preferred

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

*Candidate must be at least 18 years of age.

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Very heavy work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for heavy work.

Schedule and Compensation:

• Hours: Average of 15-20 hours per week
• The Shift: 2-3 evening shifts during the week from 5:00PM - 9:00PM.
• Weekends: Minimum of every other weekend (Saturdays between 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM; Sundays 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM).
• Pay: The hourly rate posted is a base hourly rate of $18.00/HR.
