Job summary

Wenatchee School District seeks a part-time Bicycle Education Program Assistant to support the Teens Biking to Destinations curriculum and after-school enrichment at Orchard and Pioneer Middle Schools.

This 20-hour/week, grant-funded role reports to the Program Coordinator and emphasizes health, safety, equity, and student leadership through cycling activities and positive youth development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in education, youth development, recreation, or related field preferred.
• Experience working with youth in school-based or community programs, preferably middle school students.
• Ability to support the success and achievement of low-income students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Basic computer and data entry skills.
• Interest in cycling and willingness to learn bicycle maintenance skills.
• Ability to lift and move bicycles and program equipment (up to 50 lbs) and participate in program bike rides of up to 5-10 miles.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community members.
• Bilingual skills highly valued, but not required.
• Consistent punctuality and attendance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing curriculum including bicycle rides, handling skills, and maintenance activities under the Program Coordinator.
• Support student engagement and behavior management using PBIS strategies and district safety guidelines.
• Assist with program logistics, including bike storage, transportation, and basic maintenance tasks.
• Support outreach to students, families, and community members; assist with volunteer recruitment and coordination as directed.
• Help set up and take down program equipment before and after activities.
• Encourage and support student participation in rides and enrichment activities.
• Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with students, families, staff, and community partners.
• Maintain accurate attendance and participation records as directed by the Program Coordinator.
