gpac is seeking an experienced Bid Manager in the United States to lead the end-to-end K-12 bid process, coordinating inputs from sales, marketing, product, finance, legal and delivery teams. Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end K-12 bid process.
  • Lead the bids team and coordinate inputs from key stakeholders across sales, marketing, product, finance, commercial, legal and project delivery.
  • Identify, solicit and qualify RFPs for commercial and commodity K-12 USDA food items.
  • Develop clear win strategies with the Sales team and articulate win themes.
  • Negotiate with specialist suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Understand and resolve complex technical, strategic and business issues.
  • Prepare and review the commercial aspects of bids, including final pricing.
  • Track and manage bid risk throughout the process.
  • Contribute to written proposals and executive summaries.
  • Manage bid budgets and monitor KPIs and timelines.
  • Ensure on-time submission of compliant, commercially sound bids.
  • Coordinate client presentations as part of bid submissions.
  • Drive continuous improvement through post-bid reviews with customers and Sales.

Job description

Our Bid Manager must have the proven ability in delivering winning, multi-million-pound product or services opportunities, possess strong leadership skills in an office-based environment, and must be an excellent communicator and comfortable working at CEO / Director Level (internal and external customers). This person will be fully conversant with the competitive marketplace, have sound commercial understanding and profit and loss experience coupled with risk management skills, and has the ability to manage complex, multi-workstream opportunities along with a solid understanding and management of internal governance procedures.

Core Responsibilities
  • Manage the end-to-end K-12 bid process.
  • Manage the bids team and inputs from key stakeholders, typically engaging with sales, marketing, product teams, finance, commercial, legal and project management / delivery.
  • Identify, solicit and qualify requests for proposals (RFPs) for commercial and commodity K-12 USDA food items.
  • Working with the Sales team to develop a clear win strategy for each bid and ensure win themes are clear and compelling.
  • Negotiate with specialist suppliers and/or subcontractors.
  • Understand and resolve complex technical, strategic and business issues.
  • Prepare and review the commercial aspects of the bid, ensuring all products / services are included in the final price to the customer.
  • Risk tracking and management throughout the bid process.
  • Contributing to the written proposal - both in terms of content and presentation (such as providing guidance around the executive summary).
  • Manage the bid budget and monitor and report on overall performance against KPIs.
  • Ensure timescales are achieved at each step of the bid process, including all internal governance, while taking the initiative in setting realistic deadlines.
  • Ensure on-time submission of compliant and commercially sound bids.
  • Coordinate and plan all client presentations required as part of the bid submission.
  • Drive continuous improvement, through post-bid reviews, both internally and with customers.
  • When bid season begins to wind down, capitalize on collecting awards with Sales Team. Documenting and Assisting with Target Items for sales plans for upcoming year.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in business administration or equivalent preferred
  • 4+ previous experience working in Bids, K12 experience a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Approach bids creatively and with problem-solving skills
  • Communicate clearly with clients both written and verbal
  • Confidence in their own abilities and judgement to make quick, effective decisions
  • Provide high-quality service and have an excellent adeptness with finances
