Job summary

HMM America in Irving, TX seeks an SMT Analyst to support pricing and multi-trade bid coordination for key regional accounts. The role requires timely responses to new account requests to meet critical deadlines and to monitor contract performance.

You will quote rates from Transpacific origins (Asia) to the USA and Canada, create regular reports, and assist the sales team with account management while coordinating with other departments to complete tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, supply chain management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Requires 3 years’ related experience, preferably within shipping/logistics.
• Advanced Excel skills: formulas, vlookup, pivot tables, conditional formatting.
• Ocean freight or supply chain experience is highly desirable.

Job description

General Position Overview

The SMT analyst plays an integral role in supporting key accounts with pricing responsibility and multi‑trade bid coordination. The analyst must be able to respond to new account requests in a timely manner to meet critical deadlines required by our customers and potential customers, monitor contract performance, and support the sales team with account management for key regional accounts.

Essential Job Functions/Duties

• Coordinates bids involving multiple trade regions, including working with sales and customers to determine that bids meet internal qualifications.
• Quotes rates for assigned key accounts from Transpacific Eastbound origins (Asia) to USA and Canada.
• Creates and distributes daily/weekly/monthly reports.

Additional Duties

• Performs troubleshooting and maintenance for accounts as required.
• Updates promotional materials.
• Maintains contracts to ensure compliance with FMC requirements and company standards.
• Familiarizes and executes company and customer contracting requirements when bidding.
• Maintains department and company standards for turnaround time for all work assignments.
• Communicates and coordinates with other departments to complete tasks.
• Assists and acts as backup for all other marketing and sales activities, including event preparation and planning, and supporting sales staff with inquiries.
• Supports department tasks of distributing industry news and market analysis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated high level of proficiency in Excel, including the use of formulas, vlookup, pivot tables, and conditional formatting.
• Proficient in other MS Office applications including Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
• Ocean freight or supply chain industry experience highly desirable.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects at a time within given timelines.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills; position works with management, sales, and customers.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to self‑motivate with little supervision.
• Team player and willing to adapt to new tasks and projects.
• Excellent computer literacy is required.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, supply chain management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Requires 3 years’ related experience, preferably within shipping/logistics.

Environment / Equipment / Physical Demands

• Work performed in an office environment where the noise level is moderate. Regularly required to stand, sit, and walk around the office. Frequently required to work on a computer. Occasionally required to use force to lift, push and pull up to 20 pounds.

The pay range listed for this position is the anticipated starting salary or wage range, and the final offered rate will be based on individual merit and the relative compensation of employees in similar positions.
