Job summary

Acquire4Hire seeks an experienced retail repair shop manager to oversee daily operations, drive technician productivity, and ensure top-quality bike repairs.

You will manage the parts department, train staff, and collaborate with management to optimize store performance and customer satisfaction.

About This Role

Responsible for every aspect of the repair shop operations as well the productivity of the mechanics and the quality of the repairs. Contributes to the overall success of the company by participating in all aspects of the business.

What You'll Do

• Inform mechanics regarding new policies, policy changes, new procedures, and procedure changes
• Develop, modify, and enforce the service department's policies
• Maintain warranty policies and procedures
• Complete repairs
• Set tangible goals for staff
• Motivate and reward staff using positive reinforcement techniques
• Assist other mechanics with repairs as needed
• Monitor and maintain quality control systems (ie, "second check")
• Monitor and maintain mechanics' efficiency. Maintain mechanic productivity rate of at least $30/hr.
• Write work orders based on on-the-spot analysis; provide customers with accurate cost estimate quotes and maintenance suggestions
• Thoroughly and accurately complete bike builds, repairs, tune ups, sales checks, and accessory installs on time and with the highest quality standards
• Maintain organized and efficient service areas
• Work closely with the Store Manager, assisting with the daily operations of the store including closing sales, order management, and customer service
• Commitment to continuously learn and share knowledge about new products and repair techniques
• Assist sales associates and customers with technical questions and purchases.
• Willingness to lead bike maintenance classes/clinics and/or provide tech services at special events
• Manage shop supplies
• Maintain all shop tools
• Ensure that proper safety practices are being followed
• Handle customer complaints with regard to service
• Delegate jobs and responsibilities to mechanics
• Ensure customer service standards are being met
• Maintain good communication between service and sales departments
• Maintain good communication between service and GM and/or owner.
• Process warranty claims on frames and parts
• Provide training to mechanics as needed
• Help maintain a positive work environment, good morale among mechanics
• Maintain a high degree of cleanliness and organization of the repair shop
• Responsible for ensuring the facilities of the building are working correctly
• Ensure mechanics have received base training for their mechanic level
• Check the work Service email and respond at the beginning and end of every shift
• Responsible for basic facility management and upkeep. (as assigned by GM or owner)
• Ensure that repair work spaces are as conducive to mechanics' success as possible

Manage the parts department

• Ensure necessary parts are in stock
• Ensure that Parts Dept is organized, clean & labeled correctly
• Parts have accurate price tags
• Ensure that inventory is accurate
• Perform cycle counts as needed or directed

Requirements

Education/Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of retail management experience.
