Job summary

Revolution is seeking a Seasonal Bicycle Mechanic in Boulder, CO to inspect, maintain, and repair the Boulder BCycle fleet. You will work under the Shop Manager, performing safety inspections and field repairs, with occasional battery swapping and bike assembly.

Indoor work predominates, with possible outdoor tasks and public interaction. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, bike repair experience preferred, and the ability to learn specific maintenance requirements.

Reports to: Bike Shop Manager
Location: Boulder, CO
Job Type: Full-time, 32 hours per week, 4 days per week, Non-exempt, Seasonal position (anticipated end date 11/30/26)
Schedule:

Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM or Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM

The Bicycle Mechanic position is responsible for assisting in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of the Boulder BCycle bike share fleet. Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Mechanic will complete safety inspections and repairs on bicycles in the shop and the field, as well as assist with battery swapping, bike assembly, and other operational work as needed. This positionwill entail primarily indoor work, though outdoor work is possible, with high exposure to the public and potentially inclement weather. Strong mechanical aptitude is a must, and bike repair experience is preferred. Mechanics will receive full training on the specific maintenance requirements of the bicycles; however, experience working in mechanically and technically minded environments is desired.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work under the guidance of the Bike Shop Manager and OperationsManager Performsafety checks andrepairs in the fieldand shop Repair bikes as needed tocompanyspecifications. Diagnose E-bikeissues using various software tools. Follow inventory management procedures for bike parts and tools. Perform in field repairs on occasion. Perform basic repairs and maintenance on cargo bikes when necessary. Handle public interactions in the fieldin a friendly and professional manner. Must diligentlymaintainaccurateservice records for all repairs completed. Otherduties as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • Requires High School Diploma or GED Bicycle mechanic experiencepreferred. Experience cycling in an urban environment, in all weather conditions, desired. Proven technical and mechanical aptitude,innovationand critical thinking. Ability to repair E-Bike specific issues. Ability to repair basic bicycle electronics. Ability to manage repair schedule. Proficiencywith computers and ability to learn new software. Highly organized. Excitement, interest in bike share, and sense of humor a must!

Physical Requirements and Special Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requires frequent and repetitive bending, stooping, lifting up to 65pounds. Must be comfortable riding an E-bike in busy urban urban environments. May require warehouse and light office work when necessary. This is a full-time, seasonal position expected to work 32 hours per week (4 days per week, 8 hours per day) weekend hours are required. This role requires the ability tospeak clearly so listeners can understand,understand the speech of another person, see details of objects that are less than a few feet away, stand or sit for several hours at a time.
