Job summary

Emerson College in Boston is seeking an Associate Director of Business Intelligence to lead BI initiatives, manage data modeling and Snowflake environment, and advance the College's data strategy.

This hybrid role requires coordinating with campus partners, driving AI and data science projects, ensuring data quality, security, and timely delivery of analytics across Enrollment, Finance, Academic Affairs, and HR.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or similar.
• 10 years’ combined experience as data modeler, BI analyst or advanced report writer.
• 6 years’ experience in database systems management.
• Hands-on experience in data model/data warehouse design.
• Strong understanding of dimension/fact table structure and data aggregation.
• 5 years of experience in ETL tools and procedures.
• Programming language(s) for ETL and data pipelining.
• 3 years of Tableau or other dashboard development experience.
• Higher Education experience preferred.
• Experience with Ellucian Banner, Slate, Canvas or Workday preferred.
• Experience with Snowflake administration preferred.
• Experience in Python programming for API extraction preferred.
• Alteryx or Snaplogic ETL experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of BI projects with technical direction.
• Oversee Snowflake environment including performance and security.
• Design and maintain data warehousing system for structured and unstructured data.
• Develop robust data models to reduce redundancy and ensure data governance.
• Implement end-to-end ETL pipelines using APIs, scripts, and files.
• Develop interactive dashboards and analytics to drive business value.
• Drive AI initiatives and present usage to stakeholders.
• Document data mappings and flow; ensure data quality.
