Job summary

Medpace is seeking a BI Intern to help modernize data flows, improve data quality, and migrate fragmented assets toward a governed single source of truth. You will design and build data pipelines in Python and SQL, ingest data from various sources, and deliver reliable datasets for reporting and analytics.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, with solid data fundamentals.
• Understanding of relational databases, data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and data quality concepts.
• Familiarity with Git, automated testing, CI/CD, and software development lifecycle practices, or willingness to learn.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and clear communication.
• Preferred: experience with cloud data platforms and services (Azure, Snowflake) and data engineering tools (Azure Data Factory, Databricks, dbt, Airflow).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain scalable data pipelines in Python and SQL.
• Ingest data from enterprise applications, databases, files, APIs, and cloud platforms.
• Develop reusable data products and models to support reporting, analytics, and AI use cases.
• Help migrate legacy data assets toward a governed single source of truth with clear definitions.
• Implement data quality checks, lineage, logging, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to document mappings and define data contracts.
• Write clean, documented code and participate in code reviews, CI/CD, and releases.
• Investigate data issues and perform root-cause analysis to implement fixes.
• Utilize modern engineering tools and AI-assisted development to accelerate delivery.
