Job summary

Brunswick School Department BHS Athletics in Brunswick, Maine is seeking a part-time Swim Assistant Coach who can guide high school athletes and uphold strong sportsmanship.

Candidates must have a current background/fingerprinting certificate through the Maine Department of Education and pursue required coaching certifications; prior varsity/jv coaching experience is preferred, with commitment to growth and positive student-athlete experiences.

Qualifications

• Current background/fingerprinting certificate through the Maine Dept. of Education is required.
• Proven ability coaching high school athletes at varsity/jv/first team levels preferred.
• Interest in growing the sport in the community and fostering positive experiences for student-athletes.
• Ability to achieve required coaching certifications (Foundations of Coaching, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Concussion, Heat Acclimatization, Protection from Abuse, Health/Suicide Prevention, Implicit Bias and Bullying, Hazing and Inappropriate behavior).
• Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification preferred or obtainable.

Responsibilities

• Support and coach swimmers with skill development and sportsmanship.
• Contribute to fostering a positive and meaningful experience for every student-athlete.
• Collaborate with athletic staff to grow the swimming program within the community.

Job Description

• Candidates must have a current background/fingerprinting certificate through the Maine Dept. of Education.
• Candidates must possess exceptional knowledge of the given sport and proven ability working with high school athletes.
• Previous coaching experience associated with level (varsity, jv or first team) of this position is strongly preferred
• Candidates must demonstrate interest in and ability to grow the given sport in our community
• Candidates must demonstratecommitment to fostering a positive and meaningful experience for every student-athlete in their program
• Candidates must be dedicated to developing sportsmanship, setting high standards on and off the field and connecting with their student-athletes
• Candidates must have, or have the ability to attain, MPA Coaching certifications in:Foundations of Coaching, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Concussion, Heat Acclimatization, Protection from Abuse, Student Health/Suicide Prevention, Impicit Bias and Bullying, Hazing and Inapproproate behavior.
• Candidates must have, or have the ability to attain, current First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
