Brookline High School in Brookline, MA seeks a Freshman Softball Coach for the spring season to plan and supervise daily team activities, in-season and out-of-season, within MIAA and school policies. Reports to the Director of Athletics and head coach.

Responsibilities include pre-season HR steps, equipment and scheduling, in-season practice planning, injuries coordination, travel logistics, and post-season wrap-up with rosters and equipment needs for next year.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of MIAA Rules and Policies.
• Concussion awareness training certification.
• CPR/AED certification.
• Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.

Responsabilités

• Attend coaches meetings (school).
• Complete HR paperwork/training.
• Assist in monitoring registration and clearance.
• Check equipment and uniform inventory.
• Work with Assist AD on practice/competition scheduling.
• Read Athletic Handbook and ask AD for clarification of policies.
• Provide first week schedule to Assistant AD.
• Review website for changes.
• Set up time with Equipment Manager to distribute uniforms/equipment (In Season).
• Confirm eligibility of students (In Season).
• Plan practice sessions with schedule communicated 2 weeks in advance (In Season).
• Coordinate with Athletic Trainer for injuries and return to play (In Season).
• Ride bus to away contests or drive school van (In Season).
• Communicate schedule and announcements with families via weekly email update (In Season).
• Assist with scheduling changes and communication to players/families (In Season).
• Keep accurate records of scores and report to AD/media (In Season).
• Keep attendance daily (In Season).
• Communicate issues with AD (In Season).
• Set up time with Equipment Manager to collect uniforms (Post-Season).
• Have students complete Athletic Dept survey (Post-Season).
• Notify Administrative Assistant if any uniform/equipment not returned (Post-Season).
• Confirm final roster and wellness credit eligibility (Post-Season).
• Have end-of-season meeting with head coach (Post-Season).
• Have closeout meetings with each student (Post-Season).
• Make equipment recommendations for next year (Post-Season).

Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

TheFreshman SoftballCoachfor the springseason interscholastic athletic programwill be responsible for planning and direct supervision of daily team activities. This includes in-season as well as out-of-season contact which must be within MIAA and BHS policies. This position reports to the Director of Athletics and head coach of the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Pre-Season:

• Attend coaches meetings (school)
• Complete all necessary HR paperwork/training
• Assist in monitoring registration and clearance
• Check equipment inventory and make any requests to AD
• Check uniform inventory
• Work with Assist AD on practice/competition scheduling
• Request transportation through Athletic Dept
• Read Athletic Handbook and ask AD for any clarification of policies, etc.
• Attend meet the coaches night for families
• Providefirst week schedule to Assistant AD
• Review website for any changes

In Season:

• Set up time with Equipment Manager to distribute uniforms/equipment
• Confirm eligibility of students
• Plan practice sessions accordingly,communicate schedule at least 2 weeks in advance
• Coordinate with Athletic Trainer for any athlete injuries and return to play
• Ride bus to and from away contests - possibly drive school van
• Communicate schedule and any announcements with families via weekly email update
• Assist with any scheduling changes and communication of them to players/families
• Keep accurate records of scores, report scores to AD and/or media
• Keep attendance daily
• Communicate any issues with AD

Post-Season:

• Set up time with Equipment Manager to collect uniforms in full - lead this process
• Have students complete Athletic Dept survey
• Let Administrative Assistant know if any student did not return any uniform or equipment
• Confirm final roster and wellness credit eligibility
• Have end of season meeting withhead coach of program
• Have closeout meetings with each student
• Make recommendations to AD on equipment needs for following year

QUALIFICATIONS-REQUIRED:

• Knowledge of MIAA Rules and Policies
• Concussion awareness training certification
• CPR/AED certification
• Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment

QUALIFICATIONS-PREFERRED:

• High School Coaching experience or equivalent
