Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH seeks a BH MRSS Clinician I to provide crisis-oriented triage, assessment, and mobile response for pediatric behavioral health during crises.

The role works under clinical supervision, completes screenings, coordinates services, and supports families with a trauma-informed, culturally competent approach; Ohio licensure requirements apply upon hire.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited university or professional school.
• Ohio licensure (LPC, LSW, or MFT) required.
• Crisis Management Training must be completed and passed upon hire.
• One year of crisis-based mental health services with children/adolescents preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates crisis-based triage, assessment, and mobile response to patients and families.
• Completes telephone consultations, screenings, and triage with Telecrisis Team.
• Coordinates services and identifies supports to stabilize crises and prevent recurrence.
• Provides care coordination and warm handoffs with providers, supports, and systems.
• Initiates mandatory reporting of abuse/neglect to appropriate agencies per Ohio law.
• Maintains required trainings and stays current with relevant literature.
• Delivers trauma-informed, culturally competent crisis intervention and safety planning.
• Supports disposition recommendations for least restrictive care; participates in supervision and treatment planning.
• Takes lead in supervision and implements plans for co-managed cases.

Overview: Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance is required by hospital policy. Must pass a motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and must maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.

Job Description Summary: Facilitates crisis-oriented triage, assessment, and other appropriate mental health screenings and interventions via face-to-face mobile response to patients and families to assist with the management of psychiatric and/or behavioral health concerns occurring within various settings.

The BH MRSS Clinician I practices under clinical supervision.

Essential Functions

• Completes telephone consultation, screening, and triage to determine needs and desires of individuals and families calling through the crisis hotline, in collaboration with Telecrisis Team.
• Completes necessary assessments, documentation, follow up, and data collection.
• Coordinates services for assigned families and collaborates to identify skills, supports, resources, and services to assist with stabilizing the crisis and preventing future crises from occurring.
• Provides care coordination, collaboration, and a warm handoff of with current behavioral health providers, natural supports, and other systems involved.
• Initiates mandatory reporting of abuse and/or neglect to Child Protective Services or other applicable agencies per Ohio law.
• Maintains currency in required trainings and familiarity with the research and/or literature in areas of expertise.
• Provides trauma-informed and culturally competent crisis intervention, risk assessment, de-escalation, collaborative safety planning, psychoeducation, and recommendations during mobile response.
• Recommends disposition for least restrictive level of care, utilizing case conceptualization.
• Staffing and supervision required for disposition.
• Takes the lead in seeking supervision and implementing treatment plans for cases co-managed with non-licensed team members.

Education Requirement

Master's from an accredited university or professional school.

Licensure Requirement

Appropriate Ohio counseling (LPC) social work (LSW), or marriage and family therapy (MFT) licensure required.

Certifications

Upon hire, must complete and pass NCH endorsed Crisis Management Training.

Skills

Experience

One year of providing crisis-based mental health services with children and adolescents preferred. Previous experience facilitating crisis intervention services preferred.
