Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking an RN‑directed observer to provide constant observation for patients identified as at risk, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to hospital guidelines.

You will monitor patient status, document care, relay handoffs to staff, assist during falls, and help with feeding as directed by the registered nurse. This onsite role is located at 399 Revolution Drive with rotating shifts.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • 0-1 year healthcare experience preferred.
  • Experience cannot substitute for a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Keep nurse informed of changes in patient's condition.
  • Assist patient in the event of a fall.

Job Summary

Under RN direction, provides constant observation to patients identified as a risk to themselves or others. Responsible for providing care related tasks in accordance with the individual needs of the patient, maintaining patient confidentiality and following hospital guidelines.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain constant observation of patient.
  • Document the care of patient under observation.
  • Keep nurse informed of changes in the patient's condition.
  • Assists patient in the event of a fall.
  • Receives and provides detailed handoff information from/to staff regarding the patient and their status.
  • Assists with feeding patient(s) as directed by the RN.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.
Licenses & Credentials

Experience: Some healthcare experience; 0-1 year preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to remain alert for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to verbally calm patients.
  • Ability to perform calmly and quickly in stressful situations.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English clearly.
