Job summary

LSU New Orleans is seeking an analyst to manage and analyze maternal and child health data, develop CYSHCN dashboards, and prepare public-facing data products and GIS maps.

You will collaborate with program staff to implement data-driven medical home initiatives and support grant reporting, with emphasis on data security and policy compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or Associate’s degree plus 3 years of professional experience, or 6 years of professional work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience performing administrative functions within an office environment or health care field.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Great attention to detail and follow up.
  • Ability to manage projects, assignments, and competing priorities.
  • Proficient in the use of Zoom, Teams, and Microsoft Office, including but not not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Uses statistical software to manage and analyze maternal and child health data.
  • Develops CYSHCN dashboards and annual data summaries, and public-facing fact sheets and GIS maps.
  • Ensures confidentiality and security of data per regulations; assist in identifying data points and indicators.
  • Assists with data collection and writing for Title V CYSHCN Needs Assessments and grant reports.
  • Monitors and analyzes trends in CYSHCN data from various sources.
  • Collaborates with program staff and stakeholders to implement data-driven medical home initiatives.
  • Offers data-related support to internal staff and external partners to move data into action.
  • Authors or contributes to reports, data products, and summaries; prepares findings for presentations/publications.
  • Assists in data sections for grant proposals to secure funding.
  • Builds capacity of staff in data tracking, measurement, and analysis.
  • Coordinates with BFH analytics to respond to data inquiries.
  • Participates in TA calls, webinars, staff meetings, and professional development training.
  • Supports Emergency Operations during activations and as needed.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Job Summary
Job Description
  • Uses statistical computer programs to manage, analyze, link, and interpret maternal and child health data, including the National Survey of Children’s Health (NSCH), vital records, and other registry and survey data sets.
  • Develops and maintains a Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) performance dashboard, and compile a National Survey of Children’s Health medical home data summary and CYSHCN profile annually, as well as public-facing fact sheets and interactive Geographic Information System (GIS) maps.
  • Ensures the confidentiality and security of data according to state and federal regulations; assist in identifying and establishing appropriate data points and health indicators.
  • Assists with the design, data collection, and writing of the 5-year Title V Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) Needs Assessment, annual Title V Maternal and Child Health Block Grant reports, and related child health state plans.
  • Monitors and analyzes trends related to Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs using data sets such as data from the Family Resource Center.
  • Collaborates with program staff and key stakeholders to ensure data-driven implementation of medical home initiatives designed to improve health outcomes for CYSHCN and their families.
  • Offers data-related technical support to internal staff and external partners in government, healthcare, and the community to help move data into action.
  • Authors or contributes to reports, data products, and summaries; assists in preparing findings for presentations, webinars, or peer-reviewed publications.
  • Assists in the preparation of data sections for grant proposals to help secure funding for public health activities.
  • Helps build the capacity of programmatic staff by providing guidance on basic data tracking, measurement, and analysis.
  • Coordinates with other epidemiologists and the Bureau of Family Health (BFH) analytics section to respond efficiently to internal and external data inquiries.
  • Participates in federal Technical Assistance (TA) calls, webinars, staff meetings, and professional development training.
  • Supports the coordination and management of Emergency Operations during activation periods and as needed between events.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or Associate’s degree plus 3 years of professional experience, or 6 years of professional work experience.

  • Minimum 2 years professional experience performing administrative functions within an office environment or health care field.

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; effective organizational and time management skills.

  • Great attention to detail and follow up.

  • Ability to manage projects, assignments, and competing priorities.

  • Proficient in the use of Zoom, Teams, and Microsoft Office, including but not not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel.

DESIRED:

  • Advanced degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience performing administrative functions within an office environment or health care field.
  • Minimum 1 year professional epidemiology experience.
  • Minimum 1 year professional experience with statistical analysis packages (SAS and/or STATA or R)
  • Relevant industry certifications.

SALARY: 55-65k
