Job summary

Gehl Foods is hiring a Beverage Packaging Operator for the 3rd shift (AWS) with a 2-2-3 schedule from 6 PM to 6 AM. Base pay plus shift differential, currently $22.50/hr, and a comprehensive benefits package are offered.

The role requires adherence to GMPs, quality standards, and accurate line setup including labeling and changeovers. Candidates should be detail-oriented, with basic math skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 6 months’ prior manufacturing, packaging, or assembly line experience.
• Organizational, observational and detail-oriented skills.
• Basic mathematical calculation skills.
• Ability to read, write and listen to written and oral instructions in English.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Ensures compliance with GMPs and safety standards.
• Operates and observes secondary packaging equipment to ensure product quality.
• Performs cleaning, inspection and lubrication tasks.
• Participates in startup, troubleshooting, stop/reset and shutdown of line equipment; clears jams and reports malfunctions.
• Performs changeovers and sets up next item’s packaging and coding.
• Applies labels to secondary packages and pallets.
• Reports out of spec results to Quality and Leadership.
• Notes unsafe conditions or compliance issues with leadership.
• Maintains logs and MES data; tracks inventory and production levels.
• Keeps work area clean and maintains clean environment compliance.
• Participates in shift exchanges and team meetings.
• Safely operates forklifts for materials handling.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do:

• Ensures compliance with Gehl Foods safety standards and applicable regulatory requirements while following the company's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
• Operates and observes secondary packaging equipment to ensure food safety, product quality and conformity meeting customer standards and specifications
• Performs, cleans, and inspects and lube functions
• Actively participates in startup, troubleshooting/adjustment, stop/reset and shutdown of line equipment - Clears jams and reports malfunctions to Business Lead/Supervisor as necessary
• Performs changeovers - Completes line clears and accurately sets up next item's packaging and coding
• Applies appropriate labels to secondary packages and completed finished goods pallets
• Reports out of standard/specification results to the Quality Department and Business Unit Lead/Supervisor
• Reports on unsafe conditions or other compliance issues to the Business Unit Lead/Supervisor
• Completes handwritten instructions and on-line documentation including Quality and Critical Control Point (CCP) checks accurately and at the required frequencies
• Maintains accurate and detailed work log (including Factory MES data collection) and inventory records
• Monitors and reviews inventory and production levels to achieve the most efficient operating conditions
• Maintains assigned work area and production environment in clean orderly condition - completes environmental cleaning requirements as necessary
• Actively participates in shift exchanges and work team meetings
• Safely operates forklifts to handle materials and finished goods
• Other duties as assigned.
