Job summary

Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, is looking for a Beverage Manager to oversee daily operations and staff training for all beverage service areas. You will manage quality control, implement new revenue opportunities, and ensure compliance with health and sanitation standards.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of beverage management experience and possess excellent guest interaction skills. This position requires flexibility for all shifts, including holidays and weekends.

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Direct and train all team members. Utilize the training manual and certified trainers, track and record as required.
  • Manage daily quality of service, develop and implement a specific Sequence of Service for all Bars and Service Floor locations. Coach daily as required.
  • Implement new operational revenue opportunities, pop‑up bars, new concepts, special events, and special promotions.
  • Manage sanitation and health‑code requirements.
  • Audit all bars and beverage storerooms for quality and consistency, food cost and revenues.
  • Follow up on all audit exceptions and maintain active records for progressive coaching actions as needed.
  • Manage COGs and labor to expected goals as determined by Beverage Management.
  • Assist with all beverage inventories, cycle counts and spot inspections.
  • Manage labor to forecast, utilizing tools provided.
  • Assist bartenders in action on the bars to make drinks as necessary.
  • Assist with menu drink recipe development.
  • Conduct daily pre‑shift meetings and introduce all critical information.
  • Communicate with all support departments to insure quality is maintained.
  • Monitor staff performance, product quality and production flow. Foster improvements where needed.
  • Direct staff in proper job functions and proper guest interaction.
  • Interact with guests, perform Star Standards inspections.
  • Coordinate shift manager workflow with the beverage management team.
  • Provide leadership and daily management of the entire beverage management team and hourly staff.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings.
  • Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this job description.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be able to listen and respond to guest inquiries in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to perform complex reading, writing, math, and task completion skills is required.
  • Must possess the following skills: clerical, compiling, coordination, analysis, supervising, instructing, precision working, following instructions, influencing others, memorization, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making.
  • Flexible to work all shifts, including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
Certificates and Licenses
  • Must maintain an appropriate Alcohol Awareness card.
Education and/or Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of beverage management experience is required, or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is constantly standing, walking, reaching overhead, bending over, crouching, kneeling, climbing, balancing, and occasionally sitting during the duration of their shift.
  • Must be able to constantly push/pull up to 25 pounds.
  • The team member will constantly have repetitive use of both hands as well as constant light, firm, and strong grasping motions. Finger dexterity of both hands will be constantly required.
  • Constant use of vision abilities is required including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.

Work Environment
  • Work performed indoors, alone and frequently with and around others. The team member will perform face‑to‑face work, including verbal contact with others, during extended shifts around computer equipment and possible slippery surfaces.

  • The team member may be exposed to vibrations, extreme heat or cold, odor, and secondhand smoke.
