Job summary

Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Pennsylvania seeks a Beverage Manager to develop an environment that excites guests and supports wine and cocktail service across outlets.

You will coach bartenders and servers, manage inventory, plan purchases, create schedules, and analyze monthly reports while maintaining confidentiality and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years’ Beverage or Restaurant management experience.
  • 3+ years bartending experience.
  • Knowledge of financial systems and proficiency with spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.
  • Independently initiates, follows-up on, and complete assignments as well as special projects.

  • Deliver guest service the Nemacolin way and mentor staff to provide superior guest service.
  • Interview, train and retain associates including cocktail servers, bartenders, and sommeliers.
  • Plan and coordinate meetings and prepare presentation material.
  • Create par levels and order guides for service items.
  • Create weekly schedules and assist management with day-to-day operations.
  • Gathers and edits monthly reports and completes deliverables on time.

Job description

As the Beverage Manager, you will be responsible for developing an environment that creates excitement for internal and external guests. In this position, you will also be responsible for assisting outlets in our wine and cocktail services. The Beverage Manager also has the ability to exercise good judgement in a variety of situations - utilizing strong written and verbal communication skills while balancing multiple competing priorities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Deliver internal and external guest service the Nemacolin way. Goes above and beyond – whether for an associate or guest.
  • Responsible for actively building and retaining guest relations and acts as a mentor to other employees and coworkers to provide superior guest service.
  • Conducts monthly product inventory.
  • Interviews, trains and retains associates – including but not limited to: cocktail servers, bartenders, and sommeliers.
  • Purchases supplies and other items needed by department, authorizing purchase orders within guidelines to ensure timely procurement of necessary items.
  • Plans and coordinates meetings which include gathering, compiling, and organizing all required information and creating presentation material.
  • Establish or create par level and orders guides for all items necessary for service.
  • Creates weekly schedules for associates and assists management team with day to day operations.
  • Successfully completes critical aspects of deliverables with a hands-on approach – while creating a learning environment amongst the beverage team.
  • Prioritizes conflicting needs; handles matters expeditiously, proactively, and follows-through on projects to successful completion – often with deadline pressures.
  • Gathers and edits monthly reports from and prepares final reports.
  • Complete a broad variety of tasks including bit not limited to: promoting revenue growth, weekly wine tastings, etc.
  • Ability to use all required office equipment in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to compose, type, route, and file correspondence, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with external contacts and all levels of associates.
  • Ability to work under high-pressure situations and maintain confidentiality.
  • Expert level communication skills – proper and professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to review and comprehend all necessary documentation.
  • Expert at various computer applications and programs.
  • Demonstrates independent and advanced decision-making for complex problems by utilizing critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving.
  • Outstanding time-management skills, with proven ability to accomplish numerous tasks and challenging priorities in an effective and timely manner; demonstrated ability to execute on short-term, deadline-driven tasks daily, as well as important long-term projects requiring collaboration from multiple parties.
  • Ability to hand confidential information with discretion and tact.
  • Expert level in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as Adobe Acrobat.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • 2-3 years’ Beverage or Restaurant management experience
  • Ability to complete skill testing with near perfect scores.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate Microsoft Office Programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.
  • Independently initiates, follows-up on, and complete assignments as well as special projects.
  • Knowledge of financial systems and proficiency with spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively perform multiple tasks.
  • Ability to interface professionally with business contacts and customers.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal sound judgment and decision-making skills in directing administrative tasks, using discretion when necessary, understanding the potential impact on the department.
  • 3+ years bartending experience.

These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of high school degree or equivalent, as well as through a minimum of 2-3 years’ beverage or restaurant management experience. At least 3 years’ experience in a bartender preferred.
