POSITION TITLE: Beverage Clerk

DEPARTMENT: Beer and Wine

REPORTS TO: Beverage Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Summary

To operate a cash register and check-stand efficiently and courteously in a manner that conforms with all front-end procedures and company policies. Beverage clerks are also expected to ensure customer satisfaction by providing prompt and courteous service to all customers entering the Café.

Essential Job Functions

• Operate the cash register for a significant portion of the shift, adhering to cashier accountability policies.
• Maintain acceptable inventory levels to maximize sales and control out-of-date products through proper rotation and replenishment.
• Provide excellent internal and external customer service at all times.
• Identify customer needs and respond proactively to concerns.
• Ensure proper levels of food are available in the café, communicating with the Deli Department as needed.
• Train new café employees on products and procedures within the Beer and Wine department.
• Maintain good relationships with beverage and wine vendors through regular communication.
• Communicate department concerns and objectives with store management and Beverage Manager.
• Comply with all health, safety, and PLCB regulations.
• Enforce policies related to alcohol sales and ID verification.
• Greet customers and observe their needs while working.
• Follow all policies and procedures set forth in the employee handbook.

Supplemental Job Functions

• Handle merchandise physically, filling shelves and coolers with required products.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with customers, employees, and vendors.
• Ability to stand for the entire work shift.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds for 30% of the work time.
