Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Team members, the Surgical Technologist is responsible for handling surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during general to moderately complex surgical procedures. The role involves understanding the assigned surgical procedures, anticipating the needs of the surgeon and team, and providing support related to patient preparation, transport, and assisting with patient care to ensure safety and comfort. The technologist responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.

Minimum Education and Experience

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program required.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room, including practices and techniques in patient care and assisting surgeons.
• Minimum of three years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.

Certifications and Licenses

• Current BLS certification required.
• Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
