Job summary

Hanwha Q CELLS America Inc. in Irvine, CA is seeking a Senior BESS Operations Engineer to lead end-to-end performance, reliability, and optimization of a distributed fleet of battery energy storage systems.

You will serve as a technical bridge between Asset Management, Engineering, Product, and partners—owning complex issues and scaling operations through automation and modern tooling. The successful candidate will drive root‑cause resolution, coordinate with OEMs and vendors, and shape

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in BESS, renewable energy, or grid operations.
• Strong knowledge of power systems and ability to interpret single-line diagrams.
• Working knowledge of Modbus, CANbus, DNP3, TCP/IP.
• Demonstrated ability to apply AI tools and automation for scalable fleet visibility.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily fleet health checks, tariff updates, and dispatch optimization validation.
• Diagnose and resolve performance gaps; lead root-cause analysis for hardware and software issues.
• Coordinate with OEMs and vendors to resolve high‑impact issues with accountability.
• Analyze and improve dispatch strategies, tariff logic, and forecasting performance.
• Develop and maintain operational documentation and playbooks; enhance monitoring and alerting.
