Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a senior BESS Operations Engineering SME to drive performance improvements, root cause analyses, and annual capacity testing across the battery storage fleet. You will work with site operators, asset managers, and engineering teams to identify faults, evaluate upgrades, and lead design work from concept to execution.

The role requires 7+ years in electrical engineering with Battery Energy Storage Systems, strong data analysis, and project leadership, with

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in electrical operations, asset management, or design.
• Professional licensure or PE certification is a plus.
• Strong experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems, solar, or power generation.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities

• Review faults, operations history, and data to identify risks and improvements.
• Coordinate data collection to ensure availability, SOC, cycling and ramp metrics are met.
• Monitor warranty requirements and understand OEM differences.
• Analyze portfolio and recommend upgrades to increase output and safety.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis of failure modes and propose enhancements.
• Lead design calculations and procedures with internal and external teams.
