Job summary

WR Engineering is seeking a BESS Commissioning Engineer for utility-scale solar, battery energy storage and substations across the US. The role coordinates testing and commissioning activities, reviews electrical drawings and test procedures, and supports PV, BESS, substations, SCADA and power conversion systems, while working closely with project teams, utilities, engineers, OEMs and subcontractors.

Willingness to travel extensively across the US is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate testing and commissioning activities across project sites.
• Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams and test procedures.

Location: Texas

Salary: $90,000 to $130,000 (DOE) + annual performance bonus

Travel: Up to 100% across US project locations

Job Type: Full-time, permanent

We are working with a leading electrical contractor seeking a BESS Commissioning Engineer to support utility-scale solar PV, battery energy storage and substation projects across the US.

The role:

• Coordinate testing and commissioning activities across project sites
• Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams and test procedures
• Support the commissioning of PV, BESS, substations, SCADA and power conversion systems
• Work closely with project teams, utilities, engineers, OEMs and subcontractors
• Monitor project schedules, documentation and regulatory compliance
• Investigate technical issues and support root cause analysis

Requirements:

• BA or BS degree required
• Electrical Engineering background
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
• Willingness to travel extensively across the US
• PV, battery storage or electrical contracting experience
