Job summary

Ambercare is seeking a full-time Bereavement Coordinator to join our hospice team in Albuquerque, NM. You will coordinate grief counseling services for families, plan program development, and provide support to hospice personnel handling grief.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Experience with families/caregivers and patients through death/dying issues.
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of grief response and experience with counseling individuals and/or in groups regarding loss.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate assessment and delivery of grief counseling needs and services to family caregivers.
  • Plan Bereavement Program development, expansion and refinement through annual evaluation of services.
  • Provide bereavement support to hospice personnel coping with work-related grief (one-to-one counseling, supervision of interns, referrals).
  • Provide bereavement information and referral services to community callers; expand and maintain community resource list.
  • Assist in evaluating and planning services to meet hospice personnel support needs (yearly retreats, weekly support groups).
  • Functions independently while seeking guidance from team and community members.
  • Participate in hospice activities such as in-service education, meetings, and committees.

What You’ll Do:
  • Coordinates the assessment and delivery of grief counseling needs and services (one-to-one, groups, and ongoing follow-up) to ensure timely and appropriate services are provided to family caregivers
  • Plans for Bereavement Program development, expansion and refinement through annual evaluation of services
  • Provides bereavement support to hospice personnel coping with work related grief through on-to-one counseling, supervision of interns providing one-to-one counseling, and referral to community resources
  • Provides bereavement information and referral services to callers from the community. Expands and maintains community resource list as needed
  • Assists as needed in evaluating and planning services to meet hospice personnel support needs (i.e., yearly retreats, weekly support groups)
  • Functions independently, but seeks and accepts guidance from other members of the team and or members of the community
