Job summary

GlobalFoundries inc. Malta site seeks a CMOS BEOL Reliability Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. You will support the Fab 8 Reliability Engineering organization, learning BEOL reliability, failure mechanisms, and inline defect monitoring.

You will connect defect data to reliability risk, develop analysis tools and dashboards, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and present final results with recommendations for implementation.

Qualifications

• Sophomore in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field with GPA 3.0+.
• English fluency required; able to work 40 hours weekly during internship.
• Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to work independently in a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

• Learn BEOL reliability, failure mechanisms, inline defect monitoring, and risk assessment.
• Analyze defect data and SEM images to evaluate manufacturing defects affecting reliability.
• Connect defect types to BEOL degradation mechanisms and assess reliability criticality.
• Develop data-analysis tools and dashboards to communicate defect trends and risk.
• Collaborate with multiple teams and document methods, results, and status.
• Deliver a final technical presentation on the reliability risk-assessment method and recommendations.
