Job summary

South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department seeks a Benefits Specialist to coordinate monthly caseloads, share benefits information, and ensure CMS records align with SSA guidelines.

Travel to counties in the upstate may be required. A BS in Human Services and 3+ years of disability services experience are preferred; ASL proficiency is a plus. The department offers a comprehensive benefits package and a strong work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field required.
• At least three years of experience providing services to people with disabilities preferred.
• Fluency in American Sign Language (SLPI Advanced/ Superior levels) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate monthly caseload management activities and post case notes in the CMS database.
• Distribute benefits information sheets to beneficiaries, counselors, and partner agencies.
• Provide benefits management services and conduct interviews and assessments.
• Evaluate BPQY and other federal/state information for beneficiaries.
• Plan information sessions and conduct outreach to transition-age students and school staff.
