Job summary

Allegiant in Las Vegas, NV is seeking a Specialist, Benefits I to support health and welfare programs, ensure accurate enrollment, administer changes, and assist with open enrollment and wellness initiatives.

You will work with HRIS, third-party administrators, and benefits vendors, handling new hire enrollments, life events, and benefit communications while maintaining data accuracy and a strong customer service mindset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum one year of experience in Benefits.
  • Authorized to work in the US and able to pass a background check.
  • Knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, FSA, HSA and related benefit regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in new hire benefit orientation and enrollment processes.
  • Maintain enrollment packets and assist with open enrollment materials.
  • Update enrollments in HRIS and coordinate with TPAs.
  • Process life events and assist with wellness programs.
  • Prepare monthly benefit communications and reconcile carrier bills.

Summary

The Specialist, Benefits I provides analytical and technical assistance in the research, development, planning and execution of health and welfare benefit and wellness programs. The position is responsible for ensuring accurate enrollment and administration in the group benefit plans, administer changes to benefit plans and facilitate open enrollment activities. Additionally, the role assists with the verification and approval of monthly new hire enrollments, conducts new hire orientation briefings and fields client and employee benefit and wellness questions, and administers the wellness program.

Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Education Details: Bachelor's Degree in related field and/or equivalent work experience.

Years of Experience: Minimum one (1) year of experience in Benefits.

  • Must have knowledge of regulatory and legislative issues impacting Benefits (COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, FSA, HSA, Medicare Part D, Cafeteria Plan, USERRA, etc.). Level I should have a working knowledge of regulatory requirements and should be able to provide basic guidelines to employees and managers.
  • Show commitment to customer service and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Have strong attention to detail.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Requirements
  • Previous airline experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Ultimate Software or prior experience.
Job Duties
  • Level I - Demonstrates understanding and support of the People Services Culture by embodying it in most interactions, even in tough times.
  • Assist in conducting new hire orientation benefit briefings.
  • Maintain enrollment packets for benefits and assist in preparation of open enrollment communication materials.
  • Update benefit enrollments in Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Collect all supporting documentation.
  • Process life events and completes Qualified Medical Support Orders.
  • Prepare eligibility enrollments and update data to third party administrators (TPA).
  • Resolve basic benefit issues related to employee, management and TPA inquiries as necessary.
  • Direct Team Members to third party vendor(s) in regards to union benefits.
  • Assist with the distribution of voluntary and required benefits communications.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the G4connect benefit's related pages.
  • Update third party Consolidated Omnibus Reconciliation Act (COBRA) database.
  • Assist with monthly benefit carrier bill reconciliation.
  • Assist with wellness events, flu shots, annual health fair and other wellness challenges.
  • Assist with the creation of monthly benefits communication.
  • Audit HSA company match records for accuracy.
  • Assist with annual compliance and audit activities as needed.
  • Run monthly reporting as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Office - While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, see, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, key board, printer, and phone. May be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 20 lbs. May be required to work various shifts/days in a 24-hour situation. Regular attendance is a requirement of the role. Exposure to moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, printers, and foot traffic), temperature and light fluctuations. Ability to work in a confined area as well as the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Some travel may be a requirement of the role.
