We are seeking a detail-oriented and employee-focused Benefits Specialist to manage and support the administration of employee benefits programs. This position will serve as a key resource for employees and management, ensuring benefits are administered accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations.
Compensation for this position is $55,000–$75,000 per year, depending on experience, benefits administration expertise, certifications, and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, and other company-sponsored benefits.
- Assist employees with benefit enrollment, eligibility, qualifying life events, and benefit-related questions.
- Manage new-hire benefits enrollment and employee changes, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Coordinate annual open enrollment activities, communications, materials, and employee education.
- Maintain accurate employee benefits records and HRIS information.
- Work closely with insurance carriers, brokers, vendors, and payroll to resolve benefits issues.
- Review benefit invoices and assist with reconciliation and discrepancy resolution.
- Monitor employee eligibility and ensure benefits changes are processed correctly.
- Support compliance with applicable benefits laws and regulations.
- Prepare benefits reports, audits, and documentation for HR leadership.
- Assist with leave, disability, and other benefit-related processes when applicable.
- Protect confidential employee and benefits information.
- Respond to employee inquiries professionally and within established service standards.
- Help identify opportunities to improve benefits processes, employee communications, and overall benefits administration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in benefits administration, HR, payroll, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of employee benefits and enrollment processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and/or Google Workspace.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with benefits administration platforms and HRIS systems.
- Knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ERISA, ACA, and other applicable regulations.
- Experience coordinating open enrollment.
- Benefits-related certification such as CEBS, PHR, or SHRM certification is a plus.
- Experience working with benefits brokers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators.
